I'm often asked to recommend CDs to beginning dancers. Given that I regularly carry a few hundred with me when I DJ, it's tough to pick just a few. The list below isn't definitive or comprehensive, but all the CDs contain at least two tracks suitable for beginning dancers (for Lindy Hop / East Coast Swing); contain good music that stands up to repeated listening and dancing; and are easy to find. I've tried to include music from a variety of eras and styles.

A recent release that's also worth exploring is The Solomon Douglas Swintet's Live at the Legion.

ObNepotism: Also, although I don't necessarily recommend it for dancing specifically, I think you should check out Coal Train's Pain Killing Mystery Salve.
